Zoning Board Meeting - Variances Sought for a New Suffolk Property

Dear New Suffolk Residents:

*** Lots of important information here. Please read all the way to the end. ***

As many of you are aware, in July the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) met and considered an appeal for multiple variances on the property at 1090 First Street in New Suffolk (links to the meeting transcript and the application are below). A number of residents in New Suffolk were in attendance and shared their opinions on the variances sought. More information was needed, and the motion to grant the variances was tabled until the next ZBA meeting on August 5th. Southold town has not yet posted the agenda for the ZBA's August meeting, however, the property at 1090 First Street will most likely be considered at this meeting.

Date: Thursday, August 5, 2021
Time: 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Location: TBA, but likely in person at Southold Town Hall AND on zoom. See webpage (links below) for details closer to the meeting time.

As 1090 First Street lies within the confines of our hamlet, our residents may be interested in attending the meeting and/or expressing an opinion to the ZBA. Letters should be addressed to Zoning Board of Appeals and may be sent via email to:

Part of the Civic Association's stated mission is to "protect, conserve and, if possible, improve the rural atmosphere and unique beauty of this village." Unique beauty is highly subjective. But we hope that the information provided in this e-mail will help residents to advocate on our village's behalf, both for this property and future development in our hamlet.

Yours in Community Spirit and Preservation,
The NSCA Board
